Polygamy 411 Thanks Everyone!

As we draw near to the close of the year 2009, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has visited here at Polygamy 411, for their kindness and support. Polygamy 411 has been in existence since February 2009. As of this writing, there have been 40,396 visitors. The daily count has steadily continued to rise.
I have been touched, moved and inspired by all who have visited here and have commented. I have been helped here by many. I hope many have been helped and found hope here, 뿐만 아니라. I feel as though I have a family of friends here, including many blog friendly friends whom I have taken a delight in communicating with at their sites, also.
I’m wishing everyone a fresh new beginning in the New Year that we are about to embark upon in 2010. Although we will encounter ups and downs in our travel in time, I’m hopeful our ups will outweigh our downs. I’m learning slowly but surely we have to let go of the past in order to move forward into the future. We must dwell less on what we would like life to be, and more on what life is. Let’s embrace life with enthusiasm and optimism. Let’s take one day at a time and find the joy and beauty in life.
I wish you all the best and a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year!

I asked a question recently about polygamy being against the law, and you did not post it. I posted about that over at ‘Islam In Europe’, mentioning your site by name. I would like your answer to these questions…
If Islamic laws allow polygamy, and the laws of the nation do not, should muslim immigrants give up polygamy?
If Islamic immigrants want to break the laws of the nation (while obeying Islamic laws) is the nation being reasonable in punishing, deporting, or preventing immigration of muslims? Or should muslims get a special exception from the laws in western countries?
Should muslims in the west abandon customs like polygamy, that are legal under Islam?
Should muslims break the laws of their adopted country?
Should muslims in the west attempt to change western laws to be compatible with Islamic laws?
If muslims don’t want to obey the laws of western countries, why are they there? If they have contempt for the values that have brought (relative) prosperity, why are they there? Is it only money?

Dissent, what you asked me over at “Islam in Europe” I may not have answered perhaps because I didn’t return to the site. 나도 몰라. 그래도 여전히, I would gladly try to answer your questions here.
I think a Muslim immigrant should give up polygamy if he is married to someone in another country when he comes to the USA. Otherwise, if he marries with a LEGAL MARRIAGE LICENSE in the USA while married in another country as well, he could be charged with Bigamy and be deported. 지금, if he marries a woman in the USA without a legal marriage license, then no, he should’t have to give up polygamy because he’s not committing Bigamy.
I think if an immigrant commits Bigamy in the USA, he should be deported and punished the same as any other man in the USA that commits Bigamy.
에. I don’t think Muslims in the West should abandon customs that are legal under Islam like polygamy. Allah’s law supersedes man’s law.
I wouldn’t tell any person to break any law.
I wouldn’t suggest a Muslim in the west attempt to change western laws to be compatible with Islamic laws. There is no compulsion in Islam.
This is God’s earth. A Muslim will go anywhere God places him, whatever is God’s Will. A Muslim should live the way Allah has ordained him to live in accordance with the dictates of the Quran.
The above are my views only.
What many people fail to realize is that the USA doesn’t really care about polygamy to the degree that they will bother anyone unless there is some other law that has been violated such as child abuse and neglect laws, domestic violence, Sexual Assault, Crimes etc. If a man has only one legal Marriage License and a contract(s) with another woman or women on the side, no one cares because the contract on the side is useless and invalid. It’ll hold no weight in a court of law. I know of no law that specifically address polygamy, only law that address Bigamy. A wife with a legal Marriage License could divorce her husband who has a “아내” on the side, under the grounds of Adultery, Extreme Mental Cruelty and stuff like that. That’s how the law gets people practicing polygamy and punishes them…
A Believing Muslim man fears Allah and Allah alone!

God doesn’t pick you up in Pakistan or Saudi Arabia and drop you in the U.K. (or wherever).
It is a long process and choice is fundamental and essential.
To say it is God’s will is just avoiding a person’s responsibility for their own choices.
If you choose to murder, is it God’s will?
If you choose to steal, rape, bomb, it is God’s will?
Of course not.
If you choose to immigrate to the west, the same is true. The question remains: why make this choice?
Many Islamic customs, laws, punishments are illegal in the west and I hope very much (and expect) that they shall remain so. The truth is, polygamy is unwelcome in the west. You can see why: you list some studies to the right on this site, about the social ills associated with polygamy. Are immigrants here for money? Is that why they accept our ‘immoral’ ways? They want to take advantage of the personal and social and economic opportunities given by our freedom, but they don’t want the values that brought us our freedom and opportunities?
There was a case in Spain recently where a woman was abducted and her captors were going to implement ‘Islamic law’ and punish her for sexual transgressions, but she escaped. These fellows believed “God’s Law was higher than man’s law.” Just like you.
No doubt you will say there were mistaken in their interpretation of Islamic law. But your interpretation , giving the laws of your religion precedence over the law of the land, allows for such actions.
You have not resolved the contradiction between Islamic law and the law of the land (of our democracy, made by my ancestors for hundreds of years, as well as by immigrants who believed in it). You have instead demonstrated it.

Dissent, we have different views and here is not an appropriate forum to debate it. Thank you for your comment.

Salaam Mr. Dissent & 홈,
Hmmmm … a lot of hatred and arrogance here Mr. Dissent.
The laws made in the West are constantly superceded and rarely upheld except in the minds of those who’ve accepted the illusion of “Western Freedom” … We’re all like goldfish in God’s bowl of Creation, and ultimately we are subject to absolutes which few consider till they visit the grave and are confronted by eternal consequences that are irrevocable.
I’m an American ex-pat who divorced my country some 10 years ago because of its immorality and hypocrisy. Sure, you’ve got progress, but at what cost to the world and to your country’s society? It’s falling apart at the seams and is already a pre-Hitlerian police state wherein the Patriot Act has superceded all the liberties promised in the Consitution written by Freemasons and Occult leaders who worshipped Satan and placed his icons and idols all over the nation’s countryside, money, and hearts.
Ana is correct. The earth belongs to God, not to Americans or whoever think they run things like the Bush Boys and their Freemasonic cronies or Jesuits lapdogs. There is no monogamy save where a man and a woman honor it and it alone as a choice and not by force of law … It cannot be enforced any more than you can enforce a lion to divorce its “Pride”…
Serial polygamy is rampantly practiced in the West and men with mistresses (actually secret wives) are everywhere. Not to mention endemic fornication and ployandry on the part of Western women of the church of immorality. And need I mention the “other genders” that have arisen ? Your arguments bear no weight sir, they fall far short of reason and consequent contemplation. You’re a robot, parroting the chauvenist crusade.
Mr. Dissent. I suggest you leave your Aryan pride on the back bench of Disneyland’s Park and attend to the matters of truth you so willfully neglect in your search to justify superiority… and I suggest you do this before you visit the grave.
America and Britain have seen to it that Muslims cannot live decently in their own countries. They have robbed, bombed and exploited them and all other third world nations for three – four centuries. The blood on the Anglo-American zeitgeist screams to heaven and will be heard no matter how many invectives you offer and no matter how many apologies you make. The greatest mass murderers in the history of the world are Americans and Britains, and you wish to call this “progress” 또는 “superiority” …? Hmmmm …. It’s no more than the New world Order’s prelude to the Roman Fourth Reich
Go back to your ballgame sir. That’s where you obviously belong.

I just retreived from spam some of Dr. Omar’s comments that he made earlier yesterday morning. Please look at the “최신 댓글” closely, as they are listed in the order of the time that they were written. You may have overlooked them, as I’ve just approved them, but they were written yesterday a.m so are further down on the list of “Most Recent Comments.”
Insha 알라, I’ll try to stay on top of checking spam for legitimate comments. I apologize to all for not checking spam more regularly.

Should we not try to get polygamy legalized all over the world? It is unfair to second and subsequent wives when the laws do not recognize them, equally it is unfair to the children of such wives (although now-a-days hardly any one gets married and therefore the “common law couples” and their children are really in the same boat). Internationally speaking it is possible to get even residency problems. In one country the mother of the children may have a problem, in the other the children.

The preliminary findings in a study on polygamy in Malaysia has just been released.
I thought that Dr. Omar might be interested in it.

Chatelaine,
I thought the article that you recommended for Dr. Omar would be of interest to many on the blog; 그러므로, I made it a post for all to read.
I thank you very much for submitting it. It should shed more light on the affects of polygamy that are unknown to some.
From all of us at polygamy411, we thank you!
